Merikans Freedom Brand is a company that began this year with the purpose of paying homage to veterans. The idea of Tuan Nguyen was to create patriotic-themed shirts. Since its start, a portion of the profits are being distributed directly to veterans’ organizations throughout Southern California. When Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area, Tuan and his buddy Matthew Hoag wanted to use the same mindset and help the hurricane’s victims. Utilizing social media, they began rallying family and friends together to obtain donations. Within a week, a trailer of donated supplies was ready for delivery. In the meantime, Tuan also created a shirt whose sales would go to those affected by the disaster. The group is focusing on the city of Katy, Texas, where the flooding caused many families to lose everything. With schools closed and businesses unable to operate, they were drawn to the many opportunities to help. Once the provisions are delivered, they will stay and help with the cleanup. Merikans Freedom Brand has also responded to the Las Vegas shooting tragedy. Coronan Kristina Staple was seriously wounded by the shooter. A shirt to raise funds for her care has also been created. All are encouraged to purchase the Merikcans products and show their support for these important causes. You can find items to purchase on their website at merikans.myshopify.com. A Facebook page “Merikans Brands” that details their latest activities has also been created to keep everyone updated on their products and causes.
