One of the biggest challenges that a business faces today is uncertainty. Uncertainty has become a way of life, states Moritz (2015) of PWC Network. With uncertainty comes the stress of trying to grow your company and still stay competitive. As companies continue to emerge, businesses continue to fight for their fair share of the market to sustain their business. The key to becoming sustainable lies in the need to behave responsibly through the operations of the company, by maintaining the brand and reputation that people will come to know of your business. Your organization cannot afford to turn it’s head from the environmental, economic, tax and social impact of the business, without opening the door for non-governmental organizations, activists, and social media holding your company accountable. They can quickly damage your good name (Moritz (2015). How do you know which way to go? At the rate that the economy and technology is changing, what was the right path yesterday, may no longer be the right path for today. And tomorrow that path will once again change. The one thing that separates those who are very successful from those who are closing their doors is how they decide to solve their problems. Managers today are faced with numerous moral challenges as they struggle to become more successful, keep their job, earn that big bonus, or to even compete effectively states Jenson (2013). With the uncertainty of businesses today, the business owner is faced with such moral issues as cutting corners, omitting information, or to lie a little and steal a little, until this is just an everyday part of running the business. Jenson states that these types of practices will eventually erode the trust between the employer and the employees, business partners, executives, the shareholders, and the customers. Without trust, the business will eventually fail. So, even though starting your business was as easy as buying a domain name and registering your business license, staying in business is much more complicated. The business owner who continues to be honest and provide a great customer experience is the one who will continue to attract the customer. While business owners find great discomfort in uncertainty, the business owner who masters these elements will keep the customer. With your honesty, integrity, and great customer experience, you can keep your customer, but what it really boils down to in order to grow and keep your business is how well you market your business and how well you retain your existing customers. Figuring out which marketing vehicle is right for you is the key to a successful future for the sustainability of your business. Who are your customers?Where is your customer? How do you reach them? What do you have to offer your customer? The business owner today is trying to figure out how to go above and beyond to keep their existing customers at the same time they are trying to figure out how they can cost-effectively reach new customers.
