Major General Richard D. Roth 2015-03-11 05:04:01
My 32 years in the United States Air Force taught me that public service is about working together. Indeed, that which we can accomplish when we work together far outweighs what we are able to do when we are at odds. Each day I served in the Air Force was a truly remarkable and humbling experience. We started each morning by raising and saluting our nation’s flag - something that is absolutely critical to preserving our focus on the things that matter as public servants. That’s why one of the first events I held in the District after being sworn in as state senator Was a series of town hall meetings - the first of which was held in Moreno Valley - to ensure all constituents have their voices heard. Since I was elected in 2012 to represent the 31st Senate District, I have worked with my colleagues on both sides in the Legislature to fully fund the UC Riverside School of Medicine and hold state government accountable, particularly where public funds are being spent. And I continue to fight for our district’s fair share of funding for services and programs which help our communities. The places I visit in the District and the people I meet continue to make me proud to represent such a diverse, dedicated and community-oriented constituency from all ends of the political spectrum. In the coming legislative session, I will be working on many issues of importance to our region. I am working to secure funding to train more doctors so more families can have access to the medical services they need. And I continue to work to provide our veterans with jobs and training they have undoubtedly earned and rightfully deserve. And while there are other issues I will be working on, the most important thing I do is to serve you and make sure state government works for you. As always, it is an honor to serve you.
